I met a young woman from Holland in Tokyo Hiroo last month. She's been studying Japanese for one year and will get a course in UN university. She wants to become a journalist so quitted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This is one of email I replied to her.
I thought I should do whatever I want to do in this life after I composed this mail.
Dear A,
Thank you for the reply.
I would like to read the reading materials about "National World Heritage" which you will get at the UN University. I checked the information of the University very recently on the internet though, I might pass over the topic.
Thank you for the kindness. I would like to make something exciting materials with you in the future.
Well, I have been trying to looking for the way to the future. These days I am getting information about Administrator of Higher Education. One of professor of my graduate school gave me an information.
As you know, it has been progressing a reorganization of higher university drastically in Japan. And most of private educational institutes are facing insolvency. It's serious situation specifically in local prefecture.
There are master courses in a couple of University (Tokyo, Obirin Ritsumeikan etc.)which were established in recent years for train university stuff and a youth who wants to become an office worker at a university. According to some information about the course, actual work environment and recruitment requirements or work conditions, I think it's just like a contribution of money (more than $10,000) to the university if I would get this masters degree. There is no guarantee to be employed as an administrator of university after finishing the course.
So, I don't think it's a good idea for my age even though I am interested in this subject..
Honestly I have been interested in study abroad, however, I've never done except for one month experience in UC Berkeley Extension. It's 10 years ago. I thought about it often while or afterward was visiting in Australia and the US. But I didn't have what I wanted to study there.
A, I want to ask you in which university are you going to study Journalism?
I just start thinking to get English competence in England for one year from next year. And if there is a chance I would like to study Journalism or Administration of school in post graduate course.
I am not sure yet though, I wish you would help me by giving information in those concern.
Hope to see you while I am in Tokyo from the 12th to the 13th.
Take care of yourself!
